Vézelay
Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Basilica
Like every mediaeval church, the Vézelay basilica was constructed to be a visible statement of the invisible Church, of heavenly Jerusalem. It is a church filled with light. Listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage building 30 years ago, it is a masterpiece of Burgundian Romanesque art, famed as much for its architecture as its tympanum and its capitals.

Saint-Père
Notre-Dame church
Quite a miniature cathedral, built between the 13th and 15th centuries in devotion to the Virgin Mary. Its extraordinary narthex, its façade which represents the Last Judgment, fifty metre high steeple with angels blowing horns are all jewels of gothic Burgundian art.

Vézelay
Place Borot (Place des Rencontres)
The place Borot becomes the Place des Rencontres during the festival. At the heart of the village, it hosts many events, all day: wine tasting by the vintners of Vézelay, free concerts at 18:00, shop... it's also a place to stroll and relax with friends or visitors.
