4 pm at Asquins (Church) Counterpoint and virtuosity in Saxony Cantates n° 84 and 202 by JS Bach, Goldberg Sonatas Cornelia Samuelis, soprano. Harmonie Universelle - Conductor: Florian Deuter A passionate conversation between the master and his virtuoso harpsichord pupil by an exceptional violinist and an ensemble of international fame. 6 pm in Vézelay (Place des Rencontres) - free concert Five voice Troubadours Ommm Founded in 2004, Ommm is the encounter of 3 girls and 2 boys, from very different universes but having in common a passion for every aspect of the voice. A vocal music project but also experimentation going from trip-hop to jazz, from world music to hip-hop, from soul funk to song. 9 pm in Vézelay (Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Basilica) Music at the Sistine Chapel Allegri, Marenzio, Palestrina… The Sixteen - Conductor: Harry Christophers With this concert the splendours of the Sistine Chapel, the queen of European chapels, are brought to the Vézelay basilica, whose vaults echo the sublime roman harmonies carried by The Sixteen, the most famous performers of this repertory.
4 pm at Avallon (Collegial) Music on the Way from Vézelay to Santiago de Compostela Popular religious songs from the Compostela Way between Vézelay and Saint James On the road from Strasbourg to Santiago de Compostela, passing through the Rhone and Vézelay, Arianna Savall and Jean Tubéry propose a unique musical journey in the company of pilgrims and their masterpieces which are brought back to life. 6 pm in Vézelay (Place des Rencontres) - free concert Scat gascon André Minvielle – musical leadership, author, composer, musician (voice, drums, sampler, hurdy-gurdy) Lionel Suarez accordion Songs and an anthology of vocal and musical acrobatics, the merging of two artistic personalities, punctuated by irresistible details: Minvielle and Suarez take us to the kingdom of great lyrical flights, where voice, percussion and accordion are as one with man… 9 pm in Vézelay (Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Basilica) Between drama and liturgy, from Hamburg to Leipzig G Major Mass BWV 236 by JS Bach, Oratorio der Tag des Gerichts by GF Telemann Rheinische Kantorei –Conductor: Hermann Max Where the dazzling demonstration of contrapuntal virtuosity of the Mass by J.S. Bach comes along side the dramatic power of the Oratorio of his colleague and friend G. P. Telemann. 4 pm at Saint-Père (Church) Passion and resurrection Pieces de Morales, Victoria, Taverner, Bird, de Lassus… Stile Antico An extract from one of the most beautiful musical miniatures of the first Baroque era dedicated to Easter time. The high quality of performance and the care taken in communicating their passion to the audience makes each concert given by the soloists of Stile Antico a grand event. 6 pm in Vézelay (Place des Rencontres) - free concert Chasseurs de sons Cinq de cœur This ensemble sings with malicious verve a repertory spanning from the great classics to rock, croisanthymnes disco, popular hits uniquely rearranged, film music... These 5 “hunters” have come to earth to collect notes, rhythms, lyrics and sounds… 9 pm in Vézelay (Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Basilica) Splendours and pageants of Baroque Europe JS Bach (cantata BWV 78 Jesu, der Du meine Seele) - JP Rameau Grand Motet In Convertendo - Telemann In Deum Judicium - Handel Dixit Dominus Arsys Bourgogne – Conductor : Pierre Cao The exceptional assembly of the greatest European Baroque celebrations, a powerful musical explosion brought to us by Arsys Bourgogne and Pierre Cao whose every appearance is an exceptional moment and a must of the Rencontres musicales de Vézelay.
