Cornelia Samuelis (Soprano)

Cornelia Samuelis studied violin and also as a music teacher before pursuing her singing career in 1996 under the tuition of Heiner Eckels and Mechthild Böhme, complementing her studies with masterclasses under Ulla Groenewold and Dietrich Fischer- Dieskau.

Thereafter she toured throughout Germany and Europe with Peter Neumann, Helmuth Rilling, Ton Koopman and also with Reinhard Goebel`s  “Musica antiqua Köln”.

She sings with the Nomos-Quartett (Hannover) and is regularly invited to participate in International music festivals such as “La folle journée” in Nantes, Bilbao and Lissabon, The “Bach-Fest” in Hamburg and Köthen, the “Feste musicali” in Cologne and the “Richard Strauss Tage” in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Her vast repertoire contains all the genres, and she is passionate about Lied and oratory from all the époques. Together with Peter Neumann she has recorded a CD with works of Mozart (2004), and in 2006 a DVD with Ton Koopman with Bach`s  St. Matthew-Passion.

In 2008 she will perform in the Berlin Philharmony for the first time, with Uwe Gronostay conducting Bach`s St.John`s Passion.
